Jingyuan Membrane Filtration for Southeast Asian Diesel Purification

Solution details

📋 Customer Background

In Southeast Asia, diesel is not only a petrochemical energy source but also a complex mixed fuel deeply influenced by policy drivers (B35/B40), environmental factors (high temperature and humidity), and logistics limitations. Southeast Asia (especially Indonesia) is a region with a high global biodiesel adoption rate, containing 35%-40% palm oil methyl ester (PME), which has relatively strong elution properties and instability.

⚠️ Pain Points & Challenges

The high proportion of biodiesel in Southeast Asian diesel is highly susceptible to oxidation under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions, producing gums and sludge. These viscous substances are the core challenge that traditional filtration equipment struggles to address: they clog filter media pores, adhere to precision component surfaces, and cause fuel system failures. Unlike particulate impurities, gums have adhesive and extensile properties, making them difficult to effectively remove through mechanical screening alone.

Three key property analyses:

1. High-proportion palm oil-based biodiesel (B35/B40 PME) — Has relatively strong elution properties that strip aging oil scale from old piping; prone to oxidation producing insoluble gums that clog traditional filter paper.

2. Trace free water impact — The polarity of biodiesel molecules gives them hygroscopic properties, reducing oil-water interfacial tension; trace free water easily forms fine droplets suspended in the oil, affecting fuel appearance and stability.

3. Tropical oxidation reactions — Prolonged exposure to high-temperature environments above 30°C accelerates the oxidative decomposition of fatty acid methyl esters, forming viscous sludge deposits that affect the normal operation of precision injector nozzles.

🛠️ Solution

Facing such complex conditions, traditional "screening-based" filtration is no longer adequate. Jingyuan employs a surface chemistry management-based purification solution:

1. Oleophilic-hydrophobic efficient separation — Jingyuan's Polymer Rigid Composite Membrane surface has a specific energy-level design, exhibiting oleophilic and hydrophobic properties. Diesel molecules pass smoothly through the membrane pores, while trace free water is repelled by the membrane surface and separated upon contact. This physical repulsion effectively addresses the low interfacial tension challenge under B40 conditions, ensuring fuel is clear and transparent.

2. Rigid structure against viscous gums — Unlike fiber filter media that deform under pressure, Jingyuan's membrane has a rigid support structure. When viscous gums in B35/B40 (such as monoglyceride deposits) attempt to pass through, the rigid membrane pore size does not deform under elevated differential pressure. Combined with deep interception technology, gums are locked within the filter media and will not be extruded to downstream under pressure impact.

3. Three-dimensional gradient interception addresses elution effect — For sudden high-concentration impurities eluted by B40, Jingyuan's filter cartridge employs an outside-in gradient pore size design, intercepting impurities in layers, effectively improving contaminant capacity and reducing the frequency of cartridge replacement when handling Southeast Asian fuels.

📈 Results

Staged defense: Deploy a 40m³/h skid-mounted system at the main oil depot for high-flow circulation purification, focusing on treating gums and impurities while synergistically removing trace free water, ensuring storage tank fuel cleanliness.

Terminal control: Deploy mobile precision filtration units such as JY-G100 or JY-H130 at fueling vehicle or machinery intake ports for 3μm-grade final closure.

Monitoring first: Periodically monitor fuel acid value and gum content, rather than focusing solely on particle count.

Summary: Southeast Asian diesel treatment management centers on managing gum and impurity purification. Jingyuan's Polymer Rigid Composite Membrane, leveraging its oleophilic-hydrophobic physical properties, provides a pure physical purification solution that does not rely on chemical additives for the B40 era, ensuring fuel is clear, transparent, and meets cleanliness standards.
